I have recently acquired a bayonet I am having difficulty identifying. There is a mark, but it does not appear in my references. Can anybody assist with this?

I'm thinking this is probably Thai -- can anybody confirm this?

Thanks,
Rob

I believe it probably is police, but I have not been able to find any reference to a police dirk with these mounts to confirm this. You are correct that police dirks may or may not have handmade blades.

Hi, folks,
I've recently acquired a Japanese dirk I have been unable to identify. Can anybody assist with this one?

Thanks!
Rob
I believe it is a ww2 Japanese police knife,  maybe you can do a search and find more info, usually this type of knife had a machine made blade with an etched temper line but some times they will have a handmade blade.

I do have the scabbard, and 3 other swords like it but with different markings.

Here is one of the brass handled unidentified short sword. Is there any way of deleting excess photos, please?

Many thanks for your reply. Problem is, with regards to the sabre, I have it's full provenance, and it is listed amongst the military effects of the guy who carried the weapon during the Peninsula Wars, and has been in the family ever since. The other sword is not a bayonet, though it looks like one, and if I can get a close up of the handle, you will see what I mean. Thanks again.

Well, it's post-1952, when Elizabeth ascended the throne of England. Should be for an artillery officer, I think, based upon the hilt pattern. It'd be nice to have the script read, but you'll need clear photos and blade etchings are pretty tough to represent well in a photo. Do you have the scabbard?
